Naive' Folk Art Hand painted 19th C. Silk Counterpane

A very unusual Silk Painted Counterpane with lace tatting inserts.  Tatting lace squares are worked in symmetrically.  Decorated with a figural and scenic painted centre square, painted flowers and vines, and painted sashing borders throughout.  Fringed on three sides.  A beautiful and unique counterpane.  Excellent condition with some  minor brown bleeding due to age.  Probably American.  Circa mid 19th century.  Size:  100" x 84".
